Thermostat Projects

A thermostat is used to control and regulate the temperature of a space to its desired set point. It is used in many applications to make our life more comfortable. They are used extensively in HVACR which stands for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration.

One of its usage is to control the temperature of a room to the comfort level of the occupants. Others include the control of the temperature of a refrigerator to ensure that food is kept fresh, the control of the temperature of the operating theatre and a host of other applications.

Here are some of the temperature control projects.

Heating Room Controller
This project focus on the heating control of a space that uses electric heater as its source of heating. It basically consists of a comparator that controls the ON and OFF of the electric heater based on the sensor temperature.

Chilled Water Temperature Control
This project focus on the chilled water control of a space that uses chilled water as its source of cooling. The controller basically consists of a comparator that controls the ON and OFF of the chilled water valve based on the sensor temperature.

Electronic Thermostat Project
This application note and source code use a low cost 6 pin microcontroller PIC20F204 in the design of a simple electronic temperature controller.
